Enjoy true mono

Output

The 2M Mono uses a strapped output to deliver the same output signal from both sets of pole pins. This effectively eliminates the need for mono-specific equipment, making it possible to enjoy true mono reproduction on any stereo playback system.

Universal fit

Compatibility

The 2M Series is designed for easy mounting of the cartridge and for the weight and size to fit the most common turntables on the market today. The 2M Mono is available in three different product variant configurations: 2M, 2M Premounted, for customers who wish direct and easy mounting and replacement on their S-shaped tonearm, and 2M Verso, for bottom mount headshells.

Ortofon 2M Mono Review – Does a Mono Phono Cartridge Sound Better?

... the overall sound is more cohesive. There was a sense of depth in the low end that was missing with a stereo cart, and the top end was less washy, and much more focused. There is something quite magical about a mono recording like this, where everything needs its own space across the frequency spectrum to find space in the mix ...
... The 2M Mono is your ticket to unleashing the phenomenal potential of mono.

... Having the Ortofon 2M Mono allows more closeness to these (MONO - red.) recordings ...
It’s rare these days a label releases a mono version. However, the mono recordings have something interesting: in competing for space in a one channel sound, the various instruments create the ambiance of stillness, a hypnotic moment where all is there, the intensity of the moment in its full capacity. And here is where we can make the case that the 2M Mono from Ortofon gets you authentic and superior mono sound.
