Digital Manufacturing Technologies for Zero-defect Industry 4.0 Production
Advanced digital industrial technology, known as Industry 4.0, identifies a strategy aimed at a transition towards future ways of production. Industry 4.0 paradigm allows to gather and analyze data across manufacturing facilities and machinery, makes manufacturing processes more efficient and flexible, increases productivity and strengthens industrial growth.
Industry 4.0 gravitates around one core rationale: recent progress in a variety of digital technologies has created unprecedented possibilities that result in huge improvements in operational effectiveness for manufacturing industries.
A necessary condition for the European productive sector to be at the global forefront of technology, ensuring job creation and sustainable growth, is to have access to innovative, entrepreneurial, highly skilled research cross-disciplinary engineers in the fields of production engineering and digital manufacturing technologies.
In reply to these needs, DIGIMAN4.0 ITN will provide world excellent research training to 15 ESRs (Early Stage Researchers) in the field of digital manufacturing technologies for Industry 4.0 production.
The implementation of the DIGIMAN4.0 project lies within the biggest EU Research and Innovation programme Horizon 2020 (2014 - 2020).
Ortofon A/S and DTU Mechanical Engineering are working in close collaboration to provide comprehensive and specialized training in digital manufacturing. Ortofon's role as industrial partner is to provide hosting Early Stage Researchers' positions, equipment for pilot production and quality control, training and study case for technology validation.
The 3 main technological cornerstones of DIGIMAN4.0 are:
• Precision manufacturing processes development
• Digital manufacturing technologies and their integration into process chains
• Industry 4.0 pilot production for zero-defect manufacturing
Project Start date: 01.01.2019
Project End date: 31.12.2022
Ortofon will contribute to DIGIMAN4.0 project by investing in the new Robot production line and, in cooperation with DTU Mechanical Engineering, by developing and verifying the new robot production process development and optimization, production set-up, measurement and quality control processes.
We expect the DIGIMAN4.0 project final results will enable following:
• strengthening digital process technologies for robot production and micro injection molding
• digital process technologies' integration into process chains
• expand our micro-technical network with new competent partners
• improve the competitiveness of our company
