Today, the Ortofon brand is widely recognized among consumers and industry professionals. Our company has a global customer base within the medical and hearing aid industries, in addition to the audio-professionals who use prestigious Ortofon phono cartridges for vinyl recordings. We benefit from being established in Denmark, a country recognized for its strong tradition in acoustics and its wealth of other high-end manufacturers, who make hearing aids and acoustic measurement equipment.

We are focused on developing competences in acoustics, materials, and micro mechanical assembly.

Research and development is done with the company's own engineers supported by a strong network of acoustic and technological know-how and industrial design in Denmark. It is our philosophy to constantly develop new products and new technologies thus renew and improve the product range in accordance with the needs of the markets. Ortofon is embedded in a culture of small precision components and offers clients production of individual precision components, as well as advice and sparring in the pre-production phase. Thus Ortofon not only acts as a sub-supplier but also as a Total solution partner offering technology, second opinions, and extra resources for project management and product development. The name Ortofon is derived from the Greek words “orto” (meaning "correct") and “fon” (meaning "sound"). Since the company was established in 1918, it has always worked with sound reproduction, starting with sound tracks for movies, over precision cutting heads for records, and moving on to cartridges and components for the hearing aid industry. As part of this process, Ortofon developed skills in acoustics, small precision components, unique compounds for Micro Injection Molding, Technical rubber, micro mechanical assembly.

Industrial production

The Ortofon manufacturing unit in Nakskov in the south of Denmark has modern machinery combined with experienced operators, so human craftmanship is delivered with uniform industrial quality. Production is automated, set up with purpose-built precision machines, and is carried out by experienced and competent operators.

A set-up with entry control, quality systems, planning, and validation forms the basis of this industrial system, ensuring repeatability and reproducibility in the manufacturing processes. Our company is embedded in culture of small precision components and devices. The supplier portfolio, which has been developed over many years, is our important asset.
