Ortofon has years of experience in the production of technical rubber components developed to customer applications

30 years experience in manufacturing of small precision rubber components

Ortofon has considerable expertise in the manufacture of rubber components developed according to customer specifications and requirements.

Expertise that has been achieved, not only from its many years as manufacturer of Ortofon phono cartridges, but, to a large degree, also as sub-supplier and co-producer.

The newest high precision technology for technical rubber production

All Ortofon technical rubber production takes place at our Nakskov facility in Denmark, where production is set up for specialised items. We have laboratory equipment for own compound production. The production process is carried out by means of vulcanization (compression and transfer molding).

Moulds are developed and produced in close co-operation with the customer according to the customer's requirements and specifications. Ortofon provides technical support and contact with the mould suppliers.

We co-operate on tooling with technology partners, including high quality European toolshops, such as DanTools and Michael Lundbeck A/S . We also have partners for simpler volume products.

Technical rubber production

Rubber production is kept exclusively to precision components of the very high quality, an essential element in our supplies to the medical and hearing aid industries.

Ortofon works with many different types of rubber, including:
Silicone, Fluorosilicone, Bromobutyl, Fluoroelastomer, Bromobutyl/EPDM, Nitrile, EPDM.

The components are produced and controlled following specific customer requirements. All our rubber compounds are accompanied by data sheets, which cover the technical properties of the vulcanized rubber.

Quality of the entire processes

Ortofon rubber production is exclusively for precision components of the high quality which is a key factor for our clients in the medical and hearing aid industries. Quality of the entire manufacturing process "from mixing of compound to finished product" is in compliance with ISO 13485:
 • Production planning ensures that production team can achieve required production target, optimum utilization of resources, quality management and cost savings.
 • For process control "no touch" measurement equipment, DeltaPix digital microscope and rheometer tester are used.
 • Alicona 3D surface measurement system is applied for quality assurance. Finished products are tested for hardness, dynamic damping and tear strength.
 • All our compounds and finished products are validated. All our mixing recipes are accompanied by data sheets, which cover the technical properties of the mixture.

Receiver suspensions

Responding to market demands for a standard program of receiver suspensions, we have developed our own design of suspensions for Knowles and Microtronic receivers.

We cover three sizes of receivers and each size is available in two materials:
 • Black Bromobutyl/Neoprene 25 shore A
 • Transparent Silicone 25 shore A

NB: Bromobutyl/Neoprene has an extremely good dampening.

Other materials are available on request. We also have the capability to elaborate new compounds according to customer requirements. Please contact us for further information: support@ortofon.dk.

Special rubber compounds

One of our special rubber compounds with high vibration dampening properties was recently used in manufacturing of the specially shaped rubber insert applied for the Ortofon tonearms TA-110 and TA-210.

The tonearms are given a precision machined slit in each end of the aluminum tube. A piece of Ortofon special vibration damping compound is integrated into each slit.

As a result an extended damping effect is obtained in the largest possible range. The TA-110 and TA-210 tonearms have gone to the next level by reducing unwanted vibrations in the arm.
